Spent about two months comparing options around Grindr before settling on anything.
My rule for Grindr now is simple: check how quickly reports get acted on on day one.
Widening the radius on the platform added volume and quietly worsened how usable it's one-handed on a phone.
Assuming you're not paying, what the verification step actually proves is where that one gets tight.
I would judge Grindr on how much control you get over who sees you rather than on the feature list.
The signals that told me most about Grindr:
- Whether Grindr lets you send the first message without a card on file
- Whether the Grindr photos survive a reverse image search
- Whether the Grindr match count moves when you widen the radius
- Whether Grindr shows you who has actually read a message
That matters more for the mature end of the user base than most guides admit, especially around whether the ratio is workable in your area.
Does anyone know whether Grindr changed this recently?
