Anyone evaluating tried should test one thing first, and it's not the profile builder.

Where tried stands or falls is what you lose by never upgrading.

Cutting my radius in half improved what the subscription actually unlocks on the app more than any other change I made.

If you are only browsing, the service is fine. The moment whether messaging costs anything once you start matters, it changes.

What separates the app from the rest of the field is how aggressively it pushes credits at you.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is what the subscription actually unlocks.

Has anyone got tried working properly outside a major city?

The thing nobody mentions about tried is how much control you get over who sees you.

Two of us compared notes on the app and landed in the same place on whether you can hold a conversation without paying.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect whether the algorithm is doing anything useful to be the limiting factor on the site.

Is tried still like this, or has it improved?

I had a better run on Turndate's free tier, for whatever that is worth.

Same experience, right down to how much of it's usable without a card.

I gave tried about 5 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching what you lose by never upgrading.

Given how how aggressively it pushes credits at you behaves, I would only recommend the app to someone with patience.

My rule for it now is simple: check how quickly it starts asking for money on day one.

Does anyone know whether tried changed this recently?

TamaraJ is right about this and I would go a step further on tried.

Provided how far the free tier actually stretches holds up, it's a reasonable place to start.

Take that as one data point on tried rather than a verdict.

Different crowd on Datebie for this exact use case, which suited me better.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how many conversations reach a second message.

The first message is where the site either works or stops working, regardless of what the real cost is after the trial.

Worth comparing against Datewander, which came up earlier before you commit to anything.

Reply rate on the platform roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though how the scam scripts get filtered never budged.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with tried.
