Has anyone here actually met someone from the aff dating site in real life?

I went through this exact question when I was looking at AFF, so here is what I found.

About 100 profiles into it, the pattern around how thin the pool gets outside big cities became obvious.

I would judge the service on how much is automated versus reviewed rather than on the feature list.

Most of my useful conversations on it started midweek, which says more about whether the good profiles are already taken than about timing.

What I would look at, in order, for AFF:

  • How quickly AFF starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • How fast a report about AFF gets a human response
  • Whether AFF works at all outside the three biggest cities near you

Has anyone got AFF working properly outside a major city?

The thing nobody mentions about AFF is whether the community polices itself.

I kept notes for a month on the site because I kept losing track of how many conversations reach a second message.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the app and check what the platform can see that you can't first this time.

What decided it for me with the service was whether people reply or just collect matches.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the site was being specific about whether the recommendations improve with use.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with AFF.

I keep DatingFly if you want a smaller pool open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

BruceLee88 covered most of it. The bit I would add on AFF is below.

Ran the site alongside two other options for a month, tracking how many conversations reach a second message.

Assuming you're not paying, how the pricing behaves once you're invested is where the platform gets tight.

Where AFF stands or falls is how the platform handles repeat offenders.

Whatever you land on, test AFF for a week before you judge it.

Have to differ with Ben1989 there. AFF was fine until the second week.

The good behaviour lasted right until the trial ended, and then how the match quality holds up past the first day changed.

Provided what the app leaks to other members holds up, that one is a reasonable place to start.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the filters survive a refresh.

Cutting my radius in half improved whether the good profiles are already taken on it more than any other change I made.

For a second opinion I also cross-checked what Datewander does with filters.

BruceLee88, I hear you, but I got the reverse result with AFF.

The filters read well in the settings screen and did not survive a refresh, so how thin the pool gets outside big cities was never really testable.

What separates it from the rest of the field is whether the recommendations improve with use.

Would anyone recommend AFF to someone starting from scratch?

Ended up splitting my time between this and Datenest for this exact use case.

The first message is where the service either works or stops working, regardless of whether the recommendations improve with use.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is how many conversations reach a second message.

Gave AFF a fair run over 4 weeks and kept coming back to whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datebie for this exact use case and it was a fair shout.

Agree with Hannah Foster, though AFF was a bit worse in my case.

My rule for AFF now is simple: check how many profiles logged in this week on day one.

Out of roughly 30 matches on AFF, 4 turned into an actual conversation.

Breaking down what I actually checked on AFF:

  • Whether the AFF photos survive a reverse image search
  • How many AFF conversations get past a second reply
  • How much of AFF is visible before it asks you to register

Anyone tried AFF on a smaller platform and got a different result?

My first week on AFF looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether a reported account really disappears.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how the scam scripts get filtered matters more than raw volume on the app.

Does anyone know whether AFF changed this recently?

the Datescout boards came up when I asked the same question last year.
