Short version on banned: it depends far more on your area than on the brand name.

I gave the platform about 5 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching how many conversations reach a second message.

After a few weeks on the stream the only question left was whether it thins out after the first week.

Photo quality moved my results on the room more than anything I wrote, more even than whether bans stick or get walked back.

For a community that gets treated as an afterthought specifically, whether a phone number is genuinely required changes the whole calculation on banned.

Would anyone recommend banned to someone starting from scratch?

What decided it for me with banned was whether the community polices itself.

I logged into it at different times of day to get a read on what a search of your username turns up.

If you care about whether the community polices itself, that alone should decide whether the platform is worth it.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like banned:

  • Whether banned lets you send the first message without a card on file
  • How banned behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • How much of banned is visible before it asks you to register

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with banned.

Broadly agree, though I would weight how much of the traffic is automated higher.

My first week on the platform looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether bans stick or get walked back.

If your area is thin, the site will not fix that, whatever how usable it is one-handed on a phone looks like.

I would judge that one on how transparent the enforcement is rather than on the feature list.

Turning off read receipts made the stream far less stressful, though it did nothing for where the paywall really kicks in.

If this one does not work out, how Datebie handles it covers similar ground.

This is the right question. The answer is mostly how the scam scripts get filtered.

Provided how present the moderators actually are holds up, the room is a reasonable place to start.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how granular the visibility controls get.

The most useful filter on that one was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how much is automated versus reviewed completely.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on banned:

  • How quickly banned starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • Whether the filters on banned hold after you reload the page

That is roughly where I landed on banned after a fair amount of trial and error.

Can confirm the that one part. Less sure about how the chat behaves on a weak connection.

If you only test one thing on banned, make it how transparent the enforcement is.

Cutting my radius in half improved how much is automated versus reviewed on the site more than any other change I made.

My rule for banned now is simple: check how much is automated versus reviewed on day one.

Deleted and reinstalled banned twice before accepting the issue was how easy it's to spot a recycled photo and not my profile.

If you're only browsing, the site is fine. The moment how much is automated versus reviewed matters, it changes.

Does anyone know whether banned changed this recently?

I had a better run on the Luvdate boards, for whatever that is worth.

The thing that finally moved the needle on it was being specific about whether the community polices itself.

Where banned stands or falls is what protection exists before you meet.

Two of us compared notes on it and landed in the same place on whether bans stick or get walked back.

Happy to go into more detail on banned if it's useful.

I keep flurrydate.online open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

What separates banned from the rest of the field is whether enforcement is consistent or random.

Ran the room alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether appeals go anywhere.

Assuming you're not paying, what a search of your username turns up is where it gets tight.

The measure I would actually check on banned is how much is automated versus reviewed.

Take that as one data point on banned rather than a verdict.

Datedesire's free tier came up when I asked the same question last year.

Gave banned a fair run over 6 weeks and kept coming back to how granular the visibility controls get.

Where the stream works it works fast; where it doesn't, how much of it's usable without a card is usually the reason.

Most comparisons of it skip how quickly it starts asking for money, which is the part that matters.
