Been on and off Eharmony for a while now and my read has changed a few times.

Took me about 6 weeks on Eharmony to work out that the real question was whether people reply or just collect matches.

After a few weeks on it the only question left was how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Widening the radius on the service added volume and quietly worsened how the pricing behaves once you're invested.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how many profiles logged in this week matters more than raw volume on the platform.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like Eharmony:

  • How fast a report about Eharmony gets a human response
  • Whether Eharmony shows you who has actually read a message
  • Whether Eharmony works at all outside the three biggest cities near you

Is Eharmony still like this, or has it improved?

The measure I would actually check on Eharmony is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

The signals that told me most about Eharmony:

  • How Eharmony behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • Whether Eharmony lets you send the first message without a card on file
  • Whether the filters on Eharmony hold after you reload the page

I logged into that one at different times of day to get a read on how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Given how whether the search actually respects what you set behaves, I would only recommend that one to someone with patience.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

Provided whether people reply or just collect matches holds up, that one is a reasonable place to start.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the good profiles are already taken.

Whatever you land on, test Eharmony for a week before you judge it.

I had a better run on Datewander (datewander.site), for whatever that is worth.

AidenS covered most of it. The bit I would add on Eharmony is below.

The thing nobody mentions about it's how the match quality holds up past the first day.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the app was being specific about whether appeals go anywhere.

Anything I recommend around that one has to clear one bar, which is whether the active count matches the claimed count.

My first week on Eharmony looked promising; by the second I was only really watching how the platform handles repeat offenders.

That is roughly where I landed on Eharmony after a fair amount of trial and error.

The closest alternative I found was the Datescout community threads.

Seconding what OdetteW said, with one caveat about Eharmony.

Turning off read receipts made that one far less stressful, though it did nothing for how the match quality holds up past the first day.

What decided it for me with Eharmony was how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Does anyone know whether Eharmony changed this recently?

Have to differ with OdetteW there. Eharmony was fine until the second week.

It worked in a large city and collapsed forty miles out, mostly because of how the match quality holds up past the first day.

I would judge Eharmony on how much of the base is genuinely looking rather than on the feature list.

I tested it across two cities and the difference came down to how the scam scripts get filtered.

If you bounced off this before, revisit it and check how granular the visibility controls get first this time.

Before committing time to Eharmony, work out how long a bad account stays up.

Rewriting the opening line did more for the service than a month of tweaking how present the moderators actually are.

That is my read on Eharmony anyway, others will have had different luck.

Someone in another thread pointed me at flurrydate.online and it was a fair shout.

Same experience, right down to whether the active count matches the claimed count.

If your area is thin, the site will not fix that, whatever whether the ratio is workable in your area looks like.

Most comparisons of Eharmony skip how many profiles logged in this week, which is the part that matters.

Most of my useful conversations on it started midweek, which says more about how many obvious fakes survive a week than about timing.

Your mileage on Eharmony will vary by city more than by anything else.

Where Eharmony stands or falls is whether the ratio is workable in your area.

The most useful filter on that one was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how visible the block and report controls are completely.

If you only test one thing on Eharmony, make it how the pricing behaves once you're invested.

Ran the site alongside two other options for a month, tracking how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Happy to go into more detail on Eharmony if it is useful.
