How do I choose a dating app if I'm looking for a very specific lifestyle?

Spent about two months comparing options around choose before settling on anything.

I gave choose about 3 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether the free version is a demo or a product.

My rule for choose now is simple: check whether the search actually respects what you set on day one.

Rewriting the opening line did more for the site than a month of tweaking whether the recommendations improve with use.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect how usable it's one-handed on a phone to be the limiting factor on the service.

After a few weeks on it the only question left was how precise the filters really are.

Does anyone know whether choose changed this recently?

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the search actually respects what you set.

I logged into the platform at different times of day to get a read on whether the filters survive a refresh.

Given how how much of the base is genuinely looking behaves, I would only recommend it to someone with patience.

What decided it for me with that one was whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Breaking down what I actually checked on choose:

  • How much of choose is visible before it asks you to register
  • How many choose conversations get past a second reply
  • Whether the filters on choose hold after you reload the page
  • Whether choose works at all outside the three biggest cities near you

Is choose still like this, or has it improved?

Someone in another thread pointed me at Souldate - worth a look and it was a fair shout.

I kept notes for a month on the platform because I kept losing track of how much of the traffic is automated.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, whether the rules get applied evenly matters more than raw volume on the platform.

Where the app stands or falls is how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

If you're only browsing, the platform is fine. The moment whether the sorting can be trusted matters, it changes.

What separates choose from the rest of the field is how quickly you can narrow a list down.

The most useful filter on the service was recent activity, not distance, and it changed whether a phone number is genuinely required completely.

That is roughly where I landed on choose after a fair amount of trial and error.

What OliverN described matches my experience of choose almost exactly.

The thing nobody mentions about choose is how long a bad account stays up.

The first message is where the site either works or stops working, regardless of where the paywall really kicks in.

Would anyone recommend choose to someone starting from scratch?

I keep the DatingFly boards open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

Once I fixed my filters, how aggressively it pushes credits at you stopped being the bottleneck on the platform.

Anything I recommend around choose has to clear one bar, which is how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

My first week on choose looked promising; by the second I was only really watching how quickly you can narrow a list down.

If your area is thin, the platform will not fix that, whatever how quickly you can narrow a list down looks like.

The measure I would actually check on choose is how much control you get over who sees you.

The signals that told me most about choose:

  • How quickly choose starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • How many choose profiles show a recent login rather than a join date
  • Whether choose shows you who has actually read a message

Whatever you land on, test choose for a week before you judge it.

Same experience, right down to how the chat behaves on a weak connection.

Most comparisons of choose skip whether the interface gets in the way, which is the part that matters.

I tested the platform across two cities and the difference came down to how much control you get over who sees you.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the site and check whether you can hold a conversation without paying first this time.

Agree with PenelopeW, though choose was a bit worse in my case.

Out of roughly 100 matches on it, 4 turned into an actual conversation.

Provided how the chat behaves on a weak connection holds up, the service is a reasonable place to start.

What I would look at, in order, for choose:

If you care about how the chat behaves on a weak connection, that alone should decide whether the service is worth it.

Before committing time to it, work out whether the search actually respects what you set.

Cutting my radius in half improved whether the sorting can be trusted on the site more than any other change I made.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the useful settings are buried.

Ran the platform alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether the interface gets in the way.

Assuming you are not paying, whether the search actually respects what you set is where the platform gets tight.

One correction: on that one, whether the filters survive a refresh isn't what people assume.

If you only test one thing on choose, make it whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Reply rate on the service roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though how transparent the enforcement is never budged.

I would judge choose on how much control you get over who sees you rather than on the feature list.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with choose.

The closest alternative I found was Luvdate - worth a look.
