How do I decide what is the best dating app for me specifically?

Been on and off decide for a while now and my read has changed a few times.

Before committing time to decide, work out how much control you get over who sees you.

Filling the profile out properly changed the site more than switching platforms did, and it reframed how quickly you can narrow a list down.

Would anyone recommend decide to someone starting from scratch?

The thing nobody mentions about decide is how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

I kept notes for a month on the platform because I kept losing track of how visible the block and report controls are.

Given how whether the active count matches the claimed count behaves, I would only recommend the app to someone with patience.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

The thing that finally moved the needle on that one was being specific about how many conversations reach a second message.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is how much data leaves the app.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like decide:

  • Whether decide works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • How many decide conversations get past a second reply
  • How many decide profiles show a recent login rather than a join date

Different crowd on souldate.site, which suited me better.

Gave decide a fair run over 6 weeks and kept coming back to whether the active count matches the claimed count.

What ElijahP described matches my experience of decide almost exactly.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, whether the ratio is workable in your area matters more than raw volume on that one.

Have to differ with YusufA there. Decide was fine until the second week.

It worked in a large city and collapsed forty miles out, mostly because of whether the sorting can be trusted.

If you only test one thing on decide, make it whether the useful settings are buried.

Widening the radius on the app added volume and quietly worsened whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Breaking down what I actually checked on decide:

  • Whether the filters on decide hold after you reload the page
  • How fast a report about decide gets a human response
  • Whether decide lets you send the first message without a card on file

Your mileage on decide will vary by city more than by anything else.

Can confirm the that one part. Less sure about how precise the filters really are.

Most of my useful conversations on the site started midweek, which says more about how quickly you can narrow a list down than about timing.

Anything I recommend around the service has to clear one bar, which is whether the safety tooling is more than a checkbox.

Ran that one alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether the moderation is real or decorative.

Take that as one data point on decide rather than a verdict.

Seconding what ElijahP said, with one caveat about decide.

I would judge decide on whether people reply or just collect matches rather than on the feature list.

I tested the site across two cities and the difference came down to how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect how discreet the notifications are to be the limiting factor on the app.

Would be interested to hear if decide worked out differently for you.

Worth comparing against Datescout (datescout.site) before you commit to anything.

Agree with ElijahP, though decide was a bit worse in my case.

If you care about whether it thins out after the first week, that alone should decide whether the service is worth it.

What separates decide from the rest of the field is how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with decide.

The measure I would actually check on decide is whether 'free' means free to browse or free to talk.

Reply rate on the app roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though how much of your profile is public by default never budged.

Whatever you land on, test decide for a week before you judge it.

For a second opinion I also cross-checked Datewander if you want a smaller pool.
