Spent about two months comparing options around casually bring before settling on anything.

About 50 profiles into that one, the pattern around whether the algorithm is doing anything useful became obvious.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the filters survive a refresh.

Photo quality moved my results on the chat more than anything I wrote, more even than how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the room and check how much control you get over who sees you first this time.

Where casually bring stands or falls is how the pricing behaves once you are invested.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on casually bring:

  • Whether the casually bring photos survive a reverse image search
  • Whether casually bring lets you send the first message without a card on file
  • How many casually bring profiles show a recent login rather than a join date

Anyone tried casually bring on a smaller platform and got a different result?

Adding a counterpoint about whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Most comparisons of casually bring skip how far the free tier actually stretches, which is the part that matters.

Gave casually bring a fair run over 3 weeks and kept coming back to whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Take that as one data point on casually bring rather than a verdict.

Datescout's free tier came up when I asked the same question last year.

I tested the app across two cities and the difference came down to where the paywall really kicks in.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how quickly you can narrow a list down matters more than raw volume on that one.

My rule for casually bring now is simple: check whether the sorting can be trusted on day one.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with casually bring.

Dana_NYC covered most of it. The bit I would add on casually bring is below.

If you're only browsing, the app is fine. The moment whether the filters survive a refresh matters, it changes.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the filters survive a refresh.

The most useful filter on the platform was recent activity, not distance, and it changed whether the search actually respects what you set completely.

I keep EzHookups if you want a smaller pool open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

Close to my view, except on whether the useful settings are buried.

If you only test one thing on the app, make it how anonymous you actually stay in practice.

Most of my useful conversations on the chat started midweek, which says more about whether the filters survive a refresh than about timing.

After a few weeks on the chat the only question left was how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Ran that one alongside two other options for a month, tracking how easy it's to spot a recycled photo.

Where it works it works fast; where it doesn't, whether you can hide your location convincingly is usually the reason.

What AndrewP described matches my experience of casually bring almost exactly.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the platform was being specific about whether the useful settings are buried.

What separates the room from the rest of the field is whether the interface gets in the way.

Out of roughly 40 matches on casually bring, 5 turned into an actual conversation.

Would be interested to hear if casually bring worked out differently for you.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datebound's free tier and it was a fair shout.

I would judge casually bring on whether the useful settings are buried rather than on the feature list.

I gave the room about 4 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether the useful settings are buried.

Assuming you are not paying, how usable it is one-handed on a phone is where the app gets tight.

What decided it for me with the app was whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Happy to go into more detail on casually bring if it's useful.

Have to differ with AndrewP there. Casually bring was fine until the second week.

I got the enforcement described exactly once. After that, whether the recommendations improve with use went back to being a problem.

Took me about 6 weeks on the chat to work out that the real question was how much of the base is genuinely looking.

If your area is thin, the platform will not fix that, whatever whether the sorting can be trusted looks like.

The measure I would actually check on the room is how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

Does anyone know whether casually bring changed this recently?

For a second opinion I also cross-checked the Souldate boards.

Worth flagging whether the algorithm is doing anything useful before anyone commits to the app.

Provided how quickly you can narrow a list down holds up, it is a reasonable place to start.

The thing nobody mentions about casually bring is what the subscription actually unlocks.

The first message is where the room either works or stops working, regardless of how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

Before committing time to that one, work out how much control you get over who sees you.

My first week on casually bring looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

If you care about how the mobile build compares to the desktop one, that alone should decide whether that one is worth it.

Your mileage on casually bring will vary by city more than by anything else.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datenest's free tier and it was a fair shout.

That matches what I saw on that one, particularly whether the sorting can be trusted.

Anything I recommend around that one has to clear one bar, which is whether the search actually respects what you set.

Reply rate on the chat roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though what the verification step actually proves never budged.

What decided it for me with casually bring was whether the sorting can be trusted.

Two of us compared notes on the app and landed in the same place on how much is automated versus reviewed.

What I would look at, in order, for casually bring:

  • Whether the filters on casually bring hold after you reload the page
  • How quickly casually bring starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • How much of casually bring is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether casually bring works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
