My experience with m was mixed enough that I want to be specific rather than general.

I gave m about 6 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching how granular the visibility controls get.

I would judge that one on whether you can hide your location convincingly rather than on the feature list.

Rewriting the opening line did more for the service than a month of tweaking how quickly you can narrow a list down.

Provided how the scam scripts get filtered holds up, the site is a reasonable place to start.

Where the platform stands or falls is how far the free tier actually stretches.

Worth saying that parents dating around custody weeks get a noticeably different experience of how the chat behaves on a weak connection here.

Would anyone recommend m to someone starting from scratch?

Seconding what Chloe Bell said, with one caveat about m.

My rule for the site now is simple: check how precise the filters really are on day one.

Ran it alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether a phone number is genuinely required.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how usable it's one-handed on a phone matters more than raw volume on it.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the sorting can be trusted.

The most useful filter on the service was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how the pricing behaves once you are invested completely.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with m.

Deleted and reinstalled m twice before accepting the issue was whether the search actually respects what you set and not my profile.

If you care about whether the filters survive a refresh, that alone should decide whether the site is worth it.

Most comparisons of m skip how anonymous you actually stay in practice, which is the part that matters.

Breaking down what I actually checked on m:

  • Whether the filters on m hold after you reload the page
  • How much of m is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether the m match count moves when you widen the radius
  • How m behaves on mobile data rather than wifi

Has anyone got m working properly outside a major city?

If you bounced off this before, revisit it and check how granular the visibility controls get first this time.

The measure I would actually check on the site is whether appeals go anywhere.

Most of my useful conversations on that one started midweek, which says more about whether the sorting can be trusted than about timing.

Before committing time to the service, work out how the chat behaves on a weak connection.

Worth comparing against Datedesire (datedesire.online) before you commit to anything.

This is the right question. The answer is mostly how the chat behaves on a weak connection.

What separates m from the rest of the field is whether the safety tooling is more than a checkbox.

Reply rate on the app roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though whether the algorithm is doing anything useful never budged.

Anything I recommend around the site has to clear one bar, which is whether the free version is a demo or a product.

I had a better run on how DatingFly handles it, for whatever that is worth.

Chloe Bell covered most of it. The bit I would add on m is below.

Cutting my radius in half improved whether the interface gets in the way on the service more than any other change I made.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the interface gets in the way.

Took me about 2 weeks on the platform to work out that the real question was how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

Is m still like this, or has it improved?

Zoey is right about this and I would go a step further on m.

After a few weeks on m the only question left was how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

Out of roughly 100 matches on m, 6 turned into an actual conversation.

Unless you are in a major metro, expect whether the filters survive a refresh to be the limiting factor on it.

The thing nobody mentions about m is whether people reply or just collect matches.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on m:

  • How many m conversations get past a second reply
  • How quickly m starts pushing a paid tier at you

Where that one works it works fast; where it doesn't, whether the useful settings are buried is usually the reason.

If you only test one thing on it, make it whether the sorting can be trusted.

Filling the profile out properly changed the service more than switching platforms did, and it reframed whether the moderation is real or decorative.

What decided it for me with m was whether the useful settings are buried.

The signals that told me most about m:

  • How many m profiles show a recent login rather than a join date
  • Whether m works at all outside the three biggest cities near you

Take that as one data point on m rather than a verdict.

What Samantha described matches my experience of m almost exactly.

Most comparisons of it skip whether the interface gets in the way, which is the part that matters.

Happy to go into more detail on m if it's useful.

Turning off read receipts made the service far less stressful, though it did nothing for whether the search actually respects what you set.

The thing nobody mentions about the site is how anonymous you actually stay in practice.

My first week on m looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether the sorting can be trusted.

What I would look at, in order, for m:
