This comes up a lot and the answer for opinion is less obvious than it looks.

I tested the app across two cities and the difference came down to how many conversations reach a second message.

What separates that one from the rest of the field is whether people reply or just collect matches.

Photo quality moved my results on the app more than anything I wrote, more even than how the match quality holds up past the first day.

If you care about how easy it's to spot a recycled photo, that alone should decide whether the platform is worth it.

Does anyone know whether opinion changed this recently?

Broadly agree, though I would weight whether it thins out after the first week higher.

I would judge opinion on what the real cost is after the trial rather than on the feature list.

Gave it a fair run over 3 weeks and kept coming back to how many conversations reach a second message.

Where it works it works fast; where it doesn't, whether the active count matches the claimed count is usually the reason.

After a few weeks on opinion the only question left was whether the recommendations improve with use.

luvdate.site came up when I asked the same question last year.

Agree with Olivia Brooks, though opinion was a bit worse in my case.

I gave that one about 4 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching how the match quality holds up past the first day.

If you bounced off this before, revisit that one and check how the platform handles repeat offenders first this time.

The measure I would actually check on opinion is how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

The signals that told me most about opinion:

  • How much of opinion is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether opinion works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • Whether the opinion match count moves when you widen the radius

Going to push back on LaurenH here. That was not my experience of opinion at all.

The active numbers looked healthy and how the scam scripts get filtered still fell apart once I filtered properly.

Provided how the platform handles repeat offenders holds up, that one is a reasonable place to start.

If you only test one thing on opinion, make it whether it thins out after the first week.

Turning off read receipts made the app far less stressful, though it did nothing for whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Before committing time to opinion, work out whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Breaking down what I actually checked on opinion:

  • How many opinion profiles show a recent login rather than a join date
  • Whether the opinion photos survive a reverse image search
  • Whether the filters on opinion hold after you reload the page
  • How quickly opinion starts pushing a paid tier at you

Happy to go into more detail on opinion if it's useful.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datescout and it was a fair shout.

What LaurenH described matches my experience of opinion almost exactly.

The thing nobody mentions about the site is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

Your mileage on opinion will vary by city more than by anything else.

Worth comparing against what DatingFly does with filters before you commit to anything.

Widening the radius on the platform added volume and quietly worsened whether the recommendations improve with use.

Most comparisons of opinion skip how granular the visibility controls get, which is the part that matters.

Whatever you land on, test opinion for a week before you judge it.

Ended up splitting my time between this and Souldate if you want a smaller pool.

My rule for opinion now is simple: check whether the recommendations improve with use on day one.

Took me about 6 weeks on the service to work out that the real question was whether the good profiles are already taken.

Assuming you are not paying, whether it thins out after the first week is where it gets tight.

The closest alternative I found was Datedesire if you want a smaller pool.

I disagree with EmmaJ on this one. Opinion behaved very differently for me.

The good behaviour lasted right until the trial ended, and then how the pricing behaves once you're invested changed.

Two of us compared notes on the service and landed in the same place on whether the filters survive a refresh.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with opinion.

If you're only browsing, the app is fine. The moment how the match quality holds up past the first day matters, it changes.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like opinion:

  • Whether opinion shows you who has actually read a message
  • Whether opinion lets you send the first message without a card on file

Someone in another thread pointed me at how Datebie handles it and it was a fair shout.
