Is the harmony dating app different from the eHarmony website?

Spent about two months comparing options around Eharmony before settling on anything.

Out of roughly 60 matches on Eharmony, 7 turned into an actual conversation.

What decided it for me with Eharmony was whether the sorting can be trusted.

Once I fixed my filters, how quickly it starts asking for money stopped being the bottleneck on that one.

Given how whether the algorithm is doing anything useful behaves, I would only recommend the service to someone with patience.

Before committing time to the site, work out how precise the filters really are.

Does anyone know whether Eharmony changed this recently?

What JamesT described matches my experience of Eharmony almost exactly.

If you only test one thing on the site, make it how much control you get over who sees you.

Deleted and reinstalled Eharmony twice before accepting the issue was how the chat behaves on a weak connection and not my profile.

If you care about how present the moderators actually are, that alone should decide whether that one is worth it.

Agreed on the whole. Whether the interface gets in the way is the bit I would test first.

Took me about 4 weeks on the site to work out that the real question was whether the good profiles are already taken.

If your area is thin, that one will not fix that, whatever how the mobile build compares to the desktop one looks like.

Whatever you land on, test Eharmony for a week before you judge it.

I had a better run on DatingFly, which came up earlier, for whatever that is worth.

Respectfully, JamesT, I think that is the wrong read on Eharmony.

The filters read well in the settings screen and didn't survive a refresh, so whether bans stick or get walked back was never really testable.

If you are only browsing, the service is fine. The moment whether the sorting can be trusted matters, it changes.

Is Eharmony still like this, or has it improved?

After a few weeks on Eharmony the only question left was how far the free tier actually stretches.

Reply rate on it roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though whether a reported account really disappears never budged.

Most comparisons of it skip how thin the pool gets outside big cities, which is the part that matters.

Has anyone got Eharmony working properly outside a major city?

For a second opinion I also cross-checked souldate.site.

Seconding what Chase_M said, with one caveat about Eharmony.

The first message is where that one either works or stops working, regardless of whether the interface gets in the way.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is how quickly you can narrow a list down.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with Eharmony.

Different crowd on how Turndate handles it, which suited me better.

The measure I would actually check on Eharmony is what the app leaks to other members.

I logged into the service at different times of day to get a read on how precise the filters really are.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how precise the filters really are matters more than raw volume on it.

I gave Eharmony about 3 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether the interface gets in the way.

Provided how much control you get over who sees you holds up, the site is a reasonable place to start.

Where the service stands or falls is whether the filters survive a refresh.

The signals that told me most about Eharmony:

  • How much of Eharmony is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether the filters on Eharmony hold after you reload the page
  • Whether the Eharmony match count moves when you widen the radius

Would be interested to hear if Eharmony worked out differently for you.

The closest alternative I found was Flurrydate's free tier.

Where that one works it works fast; where it doesn't, whether the search actually respects what you set is usually the reason.

Anything I recommend around the service has to clear one bar, which is how quickly you can narrow a list down.
