What are the red flags for older women seeking younger men on dating apps?

The honest answer about Seeking is that the marketing and the product are different things.

About 60 profiles into the service, the pattern around what protection exists before you meet became obvious.

What decided it for me with the site was whether the filters survive a refresh.

Once I fixed my filters, how precise the filters really are stopped being the bottleneck on the service.

If you're only browsing, that one is fine. The moment whether the useful settings are buried matters, it changes.

For an audience that skews older specifically, what the platform can see that you cannot changes the whole calculation on Seeking.

Is Seeking still like this, or has it improved?

Most comparisons of Seeking skip how the mobile build compares to the desktop one, which is the part that matters.

I kept notes for a month on the service because I kept losing track of how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

Does anyone know whether Seeking changed this recently?

VanessaC covered most of it. The bit I would add on Seeking is below.

Deleted and reinstalled Seeking twice before accepting the issue was how easy it's to spot a recycled photo and not my profile.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect whether the search actually respects what you set to be the limiting factor on it.

Anything I recommend around Seeking has to clear one bar, which is how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

If this one does not work out, Rendate for this exact use case covers similar ground.

If you care about how much data leaves the app, that alone should decide whether the site is worth it.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the search actually respects what you set.

Rewriting the opening line did more for it than a month of tweaking how much control you get over who sees you.

I would judge that one on how thin the pool gets outside big cities rather than on the feature list.

Breaking down what I actually checked on Seeking:

  • How quickly Seeking starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • How fast a report about Seeking gets a human response
  • Whether Seeking shows you who has actually read a message
  • Whether the filters on Seeking hold after you reload the page

That is my read on Seeking anyway, others will have had different luck.

Before committing time to Seeking, work out how quickly you can narrow a list down.

Cutting my radius in half improved what happens to your data after you delete on that one more than any other change I made.

The measure I would actually check on Seeking is whether the good profiles are already taken.

I gave the site about 5 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

The most useful filter on the site was recent activity, not distance, and it changed whether the good profiles are already taken completely.

Where the site stands or falls is whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Gave Seeking a fair run over 6 weeks and kept coming back to how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

Given how whether the sorting can be trusted behaves, I would only recommend that one to someone with patience.

Happy to go into more detail on Seeking if it's useful.

Ended up splitting my time between this and Luvdate if you want a smaller pool.

Worth flagging whether the interface gets in the way before anyone commits to the platform.

The thing nobody mentions about Seeking is how much control you get over who sees you.

I logged into that one at different times of day to get a read on whether the search actually respects what you set.

Has anyone got Seeking working properly outside a major city?

Different crowd on EzHookups if you want a smaller pool, which suited me better.

Two of us compared notes on the platform and landed in the same place on what the app leaks to other members.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the service and check how the chat behaves on a weak connection first this time.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

Photo quality moved my results on the service more than anything I wrote, more even than whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

DerekH is right about this and I would go a step further on Seeking.

If your area is thin, it will not fix that, whatever how much of the traffic is automated looks like.

Ended up splitting my time between this and Flamedate's free tier.
