I disagree with ChrisH on this one. Chatroulette behaved very differently for me.
That advice would have cost me a month, because whether the useful settings are buried isn't what it looks like up front.
Two of us compared notes on the chat and landed in the same place on how much of it is usable without a card.
If you care about whether the filters survive a refresh, that alone should decide whether it is worth it.
Before committing time to Chatroulette, work out how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.
The most useful filter on the room was recent activity, not distance, and it changed whether the search actually respects what you set completely.
I would judge it on whether people reply or just collect matches rather than on the feature list.
The signals that told me most about Chatroulette:
- How quickly Chatroulette starts pushing a paid tier at you
- Whether the filters on Chatroulette hold after you reload the page
- Whether Chatroulette lets you send the first message without a card on file
- How fast a report about Chatroulette gets a human response
