Are the best cheap dating apps usually just clones of Tinder?

Anyone evaluating Tinder should test one thing first, and it is not the profile builder.

I logged into the app at different times of day to get a read on how transparent the enforcement is.

I would judge Tinder on how quickly you can narrow a list down rather than on the feature list.

Once I fixed my filters, what happens after you flag someone stopped being the bottleneck on the platform.

Does anyone know whether Tinder changed this recently?

What decided it for me with Tinder was what protection exists before you meet.

Gave the app a fair run over 5 weeks and kept coming back to how many obvious fakes survive a week.

If you are only browsing, the site is fine. The moment where the paywall really kicks in matters, it changes.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on Tinder:

  • Whether the Tinder match count moves when you widen the radius
  • How Tinder behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • How many Tinder conversations get past a second reply
  • Whether Tinder lets you send the first message without a card on file

Took me about 3 weeks on Tinder to work out that the real question was whether you can hide your location convincingly.

If you care about whether the useful settings are buried, that alone should decide whether it's worth it.

After a few weeks on that one the only question left was whether it thins out after the first week.

Going to push back on IanJ here. That wasn't my experience of Tinder at all.

My results were the reverse, and how many conversations reach a second message is the only variable I can point at.

Unless you are in a major metro, expect how the chat behaves on a weak connection to be the limiting factor on the site.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the useful settings are buried.

Widening the radius on it added volume and quietly worsened how many profiles logged in this week.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with Tinder.

Someone in another thread pointed me at how Luvdate handles it and it was a fair shout.

My rule for Tinder now is simple: check what the verification step actually proves on day one.

Photo quality moved my results on it more than anything I wrote, more even than how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Before committing time to it, work out whether the filters survive a refresh.

My first week on the service looked promising; by the second I was only really watching how aggressively it pushes credits at you.

Whatever you land on, test Tinder for a week before you judge it.

Worth comparing against the Datescout community threads before you commit to anything.

GraceN is right about this and I would go a step further on Tinder.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the service was being specific about whether the good profiles are already taken.

Different crowd on Souldate (souldate.site), which suited me better.
