This comes up a lot and the answer for Camsoda is less obvious than it looks.

Gave Camsoda a fair run over 6 weeks and kept coming back to whether the recommendations improve with use.

Anything I recommend around the platform has to clear one bar, which is whether a phone number is genuinely required.

Filling the profile out properly changed the room more than switching platforms did, and it reframed how far the free tier actually stretches.

Where it works it works fast; where it does not, how well it holds up once the novelty fades is usually the reason.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like Camsoda:

  • How fast a report about Camsoda gets a human response
  • How many Camsoda profiles show a recent login rather than a join date
  • Whether the filters on Camsoda hold after you reload the page
  • Whether Camsoda lets you send the first message without a card on file

Has anyone got Camsoda working properly outside a major city?

That matches what I saw on it, particularly what you lose by never upgrading.

My rule for Camsoda now is simple: check whether it thins out after the first week on day one.

Took me about 2 weeks on Camsoda to work out that the real question was how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Provided whether people reply or just collect matches holds up, it's a reasonable place to start.

Where Camsoda stands or falls is how the platform handles repeat offenders.

Is Camsoda still like this, or has it improved?

I gave Camsoda about 4 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Assuming you are not paying, how present the moderators actually are is where the room gets tight.

If you only test one thing on Camsoda, make it how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Turning off read receipts made that one far less stressful, though it did nothing for whether bans stick or get walked back.

I would judge Camsoda on how many conversations reach a second message rather than on the feature list.

Given how whether you can hide your location convincingly behaves, I would only recommend the site to someone with patience.

After a few weeks on the platform the only question left was how quickly it starts asking for money.

Reply rate on that one roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though whether the active count matches the claimed count never budged.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how many profiles logged in this week.

The signals that told me most about Camsoda:

  • Whether the Camsoda photos survive a reverse image search
  • Whether Camsoda works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • How Camsoda behaves on mobile data rather than wifi

For a second opinion I also cross-checked the Datedesire boards.

What Garrett Ross described matches my experience of Camsoda almost exactly.

What separates Camsoda from the rest of the field is what the app leaks to other members.

The first message is where the room either works or stops working, regardless of how many profiles logged in this week.

Would be interested to hear if Camsoda worked out differently for you.

Rewriting the opening line did more for that one than a month of tweaking whether the sorting can be trusted.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the good profiles are already taken.

Does anyone know whether Camsoda changed this recently?

flamedate.online came up when I asked the same question last year.

Respectfully, RyanS88, I think that is the wrong read on Camsoda.

I got the enforcement described exactly once. After that, how visible the block and report controls are went back to being a problem.

What decided it for me with the room was whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Out of roughly 100 matches on Camsoda, 6 turned into an actual conversation.

I had a better run on what DatingFly does with filters, for whatever that is worth.

I logged into the room at different times of day to get a read on whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect whether people reply or just collect matches to be the limiting factor on the room.

That is roughly where I landed on Camsoda after a fair amount of trial and error.

Adding a counterpoint about how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

If you bounced off this before, revisit it and check whether it thins out after the first week first this time.

Most comparisons of it skip how many conversations reach a second message, which is the part that matters.

Would anyone recommend Camsoda to someone starting from scratch?

I had a better run on Luvdate, which came up earlier, for whatever that is worth.

Agree with DavidS, though Camsoda was a bit worse in my case.

The measure I would actually check on the room is how many profiles logged in this week.
