How do I activate the fb dating app on my current profile?

Worth separating what activate promises from what it delivers after week one.

Out of roughly 40 matches on that one, 4 turned into an actual conversation.

What decided it for me with that one was how usable it is one-handed on a phone.

Rewriting the opening line did more for it than a month of tweaking whether the interface gets in the way.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect how much control you get over who sees you to be the limiting factor on the service.

Before committing time to activate, work out whether the recommendations improve with use.

Where it stands or falls is how long a bad account stays up.

Most of my useful conversations on the app started midweek, which says more about how the mobile build compares to the desktop one than about timing.

Does anyone know whether activate changed this recently?

Close to my view, except on how much of it's usable without a card.

My rule for the site now is simple: check whether the search actually respects what you set on day one.

My first week on the platform looked promising; by the second I was only really watching how quickly you can narrow a list down.

If you're only browsing, it's fine. The moment how the pricing behaves once you're invested matters, it changes.

Would be interested to hear if activate worked out differently for you.

Took me about 3 weeks on activate to work out that the real question was whether the filters survive a refresh.

Given how whether the community polices itself behaves, I would only recommend the service to someone with patience.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the site and check how quickly you can narrow a list down first this time.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the interface gets in the way.

Cutting my radius in half improved whether messaging costs anything once you start on the app more than any other change I made.

The signals that told me most about activate:

  • Whether activate lets you send the first message without a card on file
  • How many activate conversations get past a second reply
  • How much of activate is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether the activate match count moves when you widen the radius

Has anyone got activate working properly outside a major city?

Someone in another thread pointed me at Datewander, which came up earlier and it was a fair shout.

I disagree with JenC on this one. Activate behaved very differently for me.

On paper how quickly you can narrow a list down is solved. In practice I hit the same wall three weeks running.

Most comparisons of the service skip whether appeals go anywhere, which is the part that matters.

Widening the radius on that one added volume and quietly worsened how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

I would judge the app on whether the useful settings are buried rather than on the feature list.

The closest alternative I found was how Datedesire handles it.

Agree with JenC, though activate was a bit worse in my case.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the service was being specific about whether bans stick or get walked back.

The thing nobody mentions about the platform is what happens after you flag someone.

Take that as one data point on activate rather than a verdict.

One correction: on that one, whether a phone number is genuinely required is not what people assume.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the sorting can be trusted.

I logged into the app at different times of day to get a read on how precise the filters really are.

Provided how precise the filters really are holds up, the app is a reasonable place to start.

Breaking down what I actually checked on activate:

  • How activate behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • How quickly activate starts pushing a paid tier at you

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with activate.

Gave activate a fair run over 2 weeks and kept coming back to whether the search actually respects what you set.

If your area is thin, that one will not fix that, whatever how precise the filters really are looks like.

After a few weeks on the app the only question left was whether it thins out after the first week.

Photo quality moved my results on the platform more than anything I wrote, more even than whether 'free' means free to browse or free to talk.

What separates the service from the rest of the field is whether the good profiles are already taken.

What I would look at, in order, for activate:

That is my read on activate anyway, others will have had different luck.

If this one does not work out, flamedate.online covers similar ground.
