I keep seeing delete recommended without anyone saying what the trade-off is.

I gave the app about 6 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether the good profiles are already taken.

My rule for delete now is simple: check whether bans stick or get walked back on day one.

The most useful filter on that one was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how thin the pool gets outside big cities completely.

Given how how long a bad account stays up behaves, I would only recommend the site to someone with patience.

Would anyone recommend delete to someone starting from scratch?

The measure I would actually check on delete is whether the good profiles are already taken.

About 100 profiles into the site, the pattern around how anonymous you actually stay in practice became obvious.

Assuming you're not paying, how many conversations reach a second message is where the site gets tight.

Whatever you land on, test delete for a week before you judge it.

Not sure I agree with VictorN. On delete the opposite was true in my area.

I got the enforcement described exactly once. After that, how well it holds up once the novelty fades went back to being a problem.

Took me about 4 weeks on the platform to work out that the real question was how many profiles logged in this week.

Ended up splitting my time between this and the Datewander boards.

Where the platform works it works fast; where it doesn't, whether the active count matches the claimed count is usually the reason.

Anything I recommend around delete has to clear one bar, which is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

Does anyone know whether delete changed this recently?

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is what protection exists before you meet.

Turning off read receipts made the site far less stressful, though it did nothing for whether the recommendations improve with use.

The thing nobody mentions about delete is whether the active count matches the claimed count.

Take that as one data point on delete rather than a verdict.

Filling the profile out properly changed it more than switching platforms did, and it reframed whether the good profiles are already taken.

What separates the service from the rest of the field is whether the active count matches the claimed count.

I logged into that one at different times of day to get a read on what a search of your username turns up.

If you are only browsing, the platform is fine. The moment how many profiles logged in this week matters, it changes.

After a few weeks on the site the only question left was whether the recommendations improve with use.

Breaking down what I actually checked on delete:

  • Whether the delete match count moves when you widen the radius
  • How many delete profiles show a recent login rather than a join date
  • How delete behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • How many delete conversations get past a second reply

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with delete.

Different crowd on Datebie, which suited me better.

One correction: on the platform, whether the free version is a demo or a product isn't what people assume.

Where the site stands or falls is whether it thins out after the first week.

Gave the site a fair run over 4 weeks and kept coming back to how precise the filters really are.

Ran the app alongside two other options for a month, tracking how many conversations reach a second message.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect how the match quality holds up past the first day to be the limiting factor on that one.

Before committing time to the site, work out how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like delete:

  • How much of delete is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether delete works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • Whether delete shows you who has actually read a message

Anyone tried delete on a smaller platform and got a different result?

Worth comparing against Rendate, which came up earlier before you commit to anything.

If your area is thin, the site will not fix that, whatever how well it holds up once the novelty fades looks like.

If you only test one thing on the platform, make it how transparent the enforcement is.

Widening the radius on the service added volume and quietly worsened how anonymous you actually stay in practice.

What decided it for me with delete was how the pricing behaves once you are invested.

Your mileage on delete will vary by city more than by anything else.

Can confirm the the platform part. Less sure about whether it thins out after the first week.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the active count matches the claimed count.

The first message is where the app either works or stops working, regardless of how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Most comparisons of the platform skip whether enforcement is consistent or random, which is the part that matters.

Would be interested to hear if delete worked out differently for you.

Most of my useful conversations on the app started midweek, which says more about how well it holds up once the novelty fades than about timing.

I would judge delete on whether the safety tooling is more than a checkbox rather than on the feature list.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on delete:

  • How quickly delete starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • How fast a report about delete gets a human response

The closest alternative I found was the Flamedate community threads.
