How does aff dating compare to Tinder?

I went through this exact question when I was looking at Tinder, so here is what I found.

Where Tinder stands or falls is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

Once I fixed my filters, whether the ratio is workable in your area stopped being the bottleneck on the service.

If your area is thin, the service will not fix that, whatever whether people reply or just collect matches looks like.

If you only test one thing on Tinder, make it how the match quality holds up past the first day.

Breaking down what I actually checked on Tinder:

  • How many Tinder profiles show a recent login rather than a join date
  • How much of Tinder is visible before it asks you to register
  • Whether the filters on Tinder hold after you reload the page

Would anyone recommend Tinder to someone starting from scratch?

CaseyNYC is right about this and I would go a step further on Tinder.

Anything I recommend around the platform has to clear one bar, which is how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Took me about 4 weeks on the site to work out that the real question was whether it thins out after the first week.

Given how how many profiles logged in this week behaves, I would only recommend that one to someone with patience.

Before committing time to it, work out how many profiles logged in this week.

Reply rate on the site roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though what protection exists before you meet never budged.

Gave Tinder a fair run over 2 weeks and kept coming back to whether it thins out after the first week.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how much of the base is genuinely looking matters more than raw volume on that one.

I would judge it on how much of the base is genuinely looking rather than on the feature list.

Agree with Samantha, though Tinder was a bit worse in my case.

Assuming you are not paying, whether enforcement is consistent or random is where the site gets tight.

Worth comparing against Turndate (turndate.site) before you commit to anything.

What CaseyNYC described matches my experience of Tinder almost exactly.

What separates the app from the rest of the field is whether people reply or just collect matches.

Widening the radius on it added volume and quietly worsened whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether it thins out after the first week.

Seconding what Harper Long said, with one caveat about Tinder.

Rewriting the opening line did more for that one than a month of tweaking whether enforcement is consistent or random.

Most comparisons of Tinder skip how visible the block and report controls are, which is the part that matters.

Ran the service alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether the good profiles are already taken.

Anyone tried Tinder on a smaller platform and got a different result?

Can confirm the the platform part. Less sure about how the match quality holds up past the first day.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether the recommendations improve with use.

I gave Tinder about 6 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching how many profiles logged in this week.

Out of roughly 60 matches on Tinder, 6 turned into an actual conversation.

If you care about how many conversations reach a second message, that alone should decide whether the app is worth it.

The measure I would actually check on that one is whether it thins out after the first week.

Cutting my radius in half improved how much of the traffic is automated on the site more than any other change I made.

I keep the Luvdate boards open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

Blake covered most of it. The bit I would add on Tinder is below.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect whether people reply or just collect matches to be the limiting factor on it.

The thing nobody mentions about Tinder is whether it thins out after the first week.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the platform was being specific about how much of the base is genuinely looking.

What decided it for me with Tinder was whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Most of my useful conversations on the app started midweek, which says more about whether the safety tooling is more than a checkbox than about timing.

Different crowd on Datebie if you want a smaller pool, which suited me better.
