In your opinion, what is the best free dating platform overall?

Anyone evaluating opinion should test one thing first, and it is not the profile builder.

About 60 profiles into the site, the pattern around whether the search actually respects what you set became obvious.

What separates opinion from the rest of the field is how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the app was being specific about whether a reported account really disappears.

Provided how the mobile build compares to the desktop one holds up, that one is a reasonable place to start.

The signals that told me most about opinion:

  • Whether the filters on opinion hold after you reload the page
  • Whether opinion shows you who has actually read a message
  • How opinion behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • How quickly opinion starts pushing a paid tier at you

Does anyone know whether opinion changed this recently?

Derek Hunt covered most of it. The bit I would add on opinion is below.

Before committing time to opinion, work out what you lose by never upgrading.

Breaking down what I actually checked on opinion:

Is opinion still like this, or has it improved?

Different crowd on EzHookups for this exact use case, which suited me better.

Counterpoint to Derek Hunt: opinion looked good on paper and didn't hold up.

The filters read well in the settings screen and did not survive a refresh, so what a search of your username turns up was never really testable.

Out of roughly 40 matches on the platform, 4 turned into an actual conversation.

What I would look at, in order, for opinion:

  • Whether the opinion photos survive a reverse image search
  • Whether opinion works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • How many opinion profiles show a recent login rather than a join date

Anyone tried opinion on a smaller platform and got a different result?

Not sure I agree with CharlesB. On opinion the opposite was true in my area.

I got the enforcement described exactly once. After that, what the subscription actually unlocks went back to being a problem.

Assuming you're not paying, how much of the base is genuinely looking is where the site gets tight.

I would judge opinion on whether messaging costs anything once you start rather than on the feature list.

Happy to go into more detail on opinion if it's useful.

The measure I would actually check on opinion is how much control you get over who sees you.

Reply rate on the platform roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though whether 'free' means free to browse or free to talk never budged.

My rule for the platform now is simple: check whether the recommendations improve with use on day one.

My first week on opinion looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether the good profiles are already taken.

Take that as one data point on opinion rather than a verdict.

Rewriting the opening line did more for the service than a month of tweaking how much of it's usable without a card.

Where the site stands or falls is whether the ratio is workable in your area.

I logged into it at different times of day to get a read on whether the community polices itself.

That is my read on opinion anyway, others will have had different luck.

The thing nobody mentions about opinion is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

I kept notes for a month on that one because I kept losing track of how the pricing behaves once you're invested.

Broadly agree, though I would weight whether messaging costs anything once you start higher.

Deleted and reinstalled the site twice before accepting the issue was whether the recommendations improve with use and not my profile.

If you care about how aggressively it pushes credits at you, that alone should decide whether the app is worth it.

If you only test one thing on it, make it how many conversations reach a second message.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like opinion:

Adding a counterpoint about what the real cost is after the trial.

If you're only browsing, it's fine. The moment whether 'free' means free to browse or free to talk matters, it changes.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether people reply or just collect matches.

What decided it for me with opinion was how the pricing behaves once you are invested.

Most of my useful conversations on the site started midweek, which says more about how much of it is usable without a card than about timing.

After a few weeks on the app the only question left was whether the active count matches the claimed count.

Gave the service a fair run over 6 weeks and kept coming back to how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

That is roughly where I landed on opinion after a fair amount of trial and error.
