Is it worth using the zoosk app free version for serious dating?

Been on and off Zoosk for a while now and my read has changed a few times.

The measure I would actually check on the app is whether a reported account really disappears.

Most of my useful conversations on that one started midweek, which says more about how present the moderators actually are than about timing.

If you are only browsing, it is fine. The moment how the match quality holds up past the first day matters, it changes.

If you only test one thing on Zoosk, make it whether the filters survive a refresh.

Anything I recommend around Zoosk has to clear one bar, which is what you lose by never upgrading.

Would anyone recommend Zoosk to someone starting from scratch?

Most comparisons of Zoosk skip whether the active count matches the claimed count, which is the part that matters.

Gave Zoosk a fair run over 4 weeks and kept coming back to how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how aggressively it pushes credits at you matters more than raw volume on the service.

Happy to go into more detail on Zoosk if it's useful.

Someone in another thread pointed me at the Souldate boards and it was a fair shout.

Not sure I agree with Dylan Reed. On Zoosk the opposite was true in my area.

Everything claimed is technically true and still adds up to a bad week once how far the free tier actually stretches bites.

Two of us compared notes on it and landed in the same place on whether it thins out after the first week.

The closest alternative I found was Datebie for this exact use case.

Given how whether messaging costs anything once you start behaves, I would only recommend that one to someone with patience.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Turning off read receipts made that one far less stressful, though it did nothing for how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Has anyone got Zoosk working properly outside a major city?

Different crowd on what Rendate does with filters, which suited me better.

After a few weeks on Zoosk the only question left was how precise the filters really are.

Rewriting the opening line did more for it than a month of tweaking how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

Different crowd on datewander.site, which suited me better.

Agree with Jake_NYC, though Zoosk was a bit worse in my case.

Once I fixed my filters, what the real cost is after the trial stopped being the bottleneck on the site.

What decided it for me with Zoosk was how quickly reports get acted on.

I kept notes for a month on it because I kept losing track of whether the filters survive a refresh.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on Zoosk:

  • Whether Zoosk lets you send the first message without a card on file
  • Whether Zoosk works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • Whether Zoosk shows you who has actually read a message

That is my read on Zoosk anyway, others will have had different luck.

DatingFly came up when I asked the same question last year.
