Is the harmony dating site the same as eHarmony?

This comes up a lot and the answer for Eharmony is less obvious than it looks.

I tested the site across two cities and the difference came down to what protection exists before you meet.

After a few weeks on Eharmony the only question left was how many profiles logged in this week.

Widening the radius on the app added volume and quietly worsened how quickly reports get acted on.

What I would look at, in order, for Eharmony:

  • How Eharmony behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • Whether the Eharmony match count moves when you widen the radius
  • Whether Eharmony lets you send the first message without a card on file

Is Eharmony still like this, or has it improved?

Anything I recommend around Eharmony has to clear one bar, which is whether the recommendations improve with use.

My first week on Eharmony looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether the good profiles are already taken.

The signals that told me most about Eharmony:

  • Whether Eharmony shows you who has actually read a message
  • Whether Eharmony works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • Whether the Eharmony photos survive a reverse image search

Your mileage on Eharmony will vary by city more than by anything else.

Deleted and reinstalled Eharmony twice before accepting the issue was how thin the pool gets outside big cities and not my profile.

If you are only browsing, the site is fine. The moment how many conversations reach a second message matters, it changes.

My rule for Eharmony now is simple: check how quickly reports get acted on on day one.

Rewriting the opening line did more for that one than a month of tweaking how the match quality holds up past the first day.

The thing nobody mentions about Eharmony is how many obvious fakes survive a week.

Happy to go into more detail on Eharmony if it is useful.

Different crowd on the Datedesire community threads, which suited me better.

Broadly agree, though I would weight whether the active count matches the claimed count higher.

Where it works it works fast; where it does not, whether the recommendations improve with use is usually the reason.

Agree with WalterK, though Eharmony was a bit worse in my case.

Where Eharmony stands or falls is how usable it's one-handed on a phone.

Turning off read receipts made the platform far less stressful, though it did nothing for what the platform can see that you can't.

Counterpoint to AaronG: Eharmony looked good on paper and did not hold up.

My results were the reverse, and whether it thins out after the first week is the only variable I can point at.

The most useful filter on the site was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how many obvious fakes survive a week completely.

I would judge Eharmony on what the verification step actually proves rather than on the feature list.

That is roughly where I landed on Eharmony after a fair amount of trial and error.

Different crowd on Souldate - worth a look, which suited me better.

Most comparisons of Eharmony skip how much of the base is genuinely looking, which is the part that matters.

Take that as one data point on Eharmony rather than a verdict.

AbigailD is right about this and I would go a step further on Eharmony.

I gave Eharmony about 5 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching how the match quality holds up past the first day.

Given how whether the filters survive a refresh behaves, I would only recommend the site to someone with patience.

Before committing time to Eharmony, work out how many profiles logged in this week.

datescout.site came up when I asked the same question last year.

PatrickJ covered most of it. The bit I would add on Eharmony is below.

Assuming you're not paying, how many conversations reach a second message is where the app gets tight.

Curious whether anyone else found the same thing with Eharmony.

What decided it for me with Eharmony was how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Photo quality moved my results on the platform more than anything I wrote, more even than whether the ratio is workable in your area.

The measure I would actually check on the platform is whether the good profiles are already taken.

I kept notes for a month on the site because I kept losing track of how the chat behaves on a weak connection.
