Short version on Camsoda: it depends far more on your area than on the brand name.

I tested that one across two cities and the difference came down to whether a phone number is genuinely required.

Where Camsoda stands or falls is whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Rewriting the opening line did more for the platform than a month of tweaking whether it thins out after the first week.

Has anyone got Camsoda working properly outside a major city?

Anything I recommend around Camsoda has to clear one bar, which is what the subscription actually unlocks.

My first week on the site looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether the good profiles are already taken.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the stream and check how the match quality holds up past the first day first this time.

Most comparisons of the platform skip how much of it's usable without a card, which is the part that matters.

What I would look at, in order, for Camsoda:

  • Whether Camsoda lets you send the first message without a card on file
  • How fast a report about Camsoda gets a human response
  • How Camsoda behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
  • Whether Camsoda shows you who has actually read a message

Took me about 3 weeks on Camsoda to work out that the real question was how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Unless you're in a major metro, expect how the platform handles repeat offenders to be the limiting factor on that one.

For a second opinion I also cross-checked the Souldate community threads.

Counterpoint to Ethan Parker: Camsoda looked good on paper and didn't hold up.

That advice would have cost me a month, because how well it holds up once the novelty fades isn't what it looks like up front.

If you care about whether people reply or just collect matches, that alone should decide whether it's worth it.

What separates the stream from the rest of the field is whether people reply or just collect matches.

Your mileage on Camsoda will vary by city more than by anything else.

The closest alternative I found was what EzHookups does with filters.

ChrisH is right about this and I would go a step further on Camsoda.

My rule for the platform now is simple: check whether it thins out after the first week on day one.

The most useful filter on the stream was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how well it holds up once the novelty fades completely.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how the match quality holds up past the first day.

That is roughly where I landed on Camsoda after a fair amount of trial and error.

If this one does not work out, DatingFly, which came up earlier covers similar ground.

Reply rate on the stream roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though how thin the pool gets outside big cities never budged.

The measure I would actually check on Camsoda is how granular the visibility controls get.

I logged into the room at different times of day to get a read on whether the rules get applied evenly.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how much control you get over who sees you matters more than raw volume on that one.

I keep datebound.site open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

Seconding what PaigeM said, with one caveat about Camsoda.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is how many conversations reach a second message.

Two of us compared notes on the platform and landed in the same place on whether it thins out after the first week.

Provided how well it holds up once the novelty fades holds up, that one is a reasonable place to start.

Does anyone know whether Camsoda changed this recently?

Agree with ConnorW, though Camsoda was a bit worse in my case.

Gave the platform a fair run over 4 weeks and kept coming back to how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Given how how many conversations reach a second message behaves, I would only recommend the room to someone with patience.

Happy to go into more detail on Camsoda if it's useful.

The closest alternative I found was Luvdate - worth a look.

If your area is thin, the platform will not fix that, whatever how much of the base is genuinely looking looks like.

What decided it for me with Camsoda was how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Most of my useful conversations on the platform started midweek, which says more about how many profiles logged in this week than about timing.

The thing nobody mentions about the room is whether the good profiles are already taken.

Ran it alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether the recommendations improve with use.

For a second opinion I also cross-checked Datewander - worth a look.
