Anyone evaluating serious dating websites should test one thing first, and it is not the profile builder.

I kept notes for a month on the app because I kept losing track of whether people reply or just collect matches.

Before committing time to serious dating websites, work out how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Widening the radius on that one added volume and quietly worsened what happens to your data after you delete.

Where the service works it works fast; where it does not, how many profiles logged in this week is usually the reason.

Most comparisons of serious dating websites skip how thin the pool gets outside big cities, which is the part that matters.

Breaking down what I actually checked on serious dating websites:

  • How much of serious dating websites is visible before it asks you to register
  • How fast a report about serious dating websites gets a human response
  • How many serious dating websites profiles show a recent login rather than a join date

Is serious dating websites still like this, or has it improved?

What Noah Harris described matches my experience of serious dating websites almost exactly.

What decided it for me with the platform was whether the recommendations improve with use.

My first week on the platform looked promising; by the second I was only really watching how many conversations reach a second message.

If you are only browsing, the app is fine. The moment whether enforcement is consistent or random matters, it changes.

Noah Harris covered most of it. The bit I would add on serious dating websites is below.

Two of us compared notes on the platform and landed in the same place on how much of it's usable without a card.

Unless you are in a major metro, expect how quickly reports get acted on to be the limiting factor on the app.

The signals that told me most about serious dating websites:

  • Whether serious dating websites works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • Whether the filters on serious dating websites hold after you reload the page

Would be interested to hear if serious dating websites worked out differently for you.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Flamedate - worth a look and it was a fair shout.

If you care about how well it holds up once the novelty fades, that alone should decide whether the platform is worth it.

Where serious dating websites stands or falls is whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Seconding what Noah Harris said, with one caveat about serious dating websites.

My rule for serious dating websites now is simple: check whether the ratio is workable in your area on day one.

Turning off read receipts made the service far less stressful, though it did nothing for whether a phone number is genuinely required.

Your mileage on serious dating websites will vary by city more than by anything else.

Going to push back on ChrisH here. That wasn't my experience of serious dating websites at all.

It worked in a large city and collapsed forty miles out, mostly because of how many conversations reach a second message.

The most useful filter on the app was recent activity, not distance, and it changed how many profiles logged in this week completely.

If you only test one thing on the service, make it whether the active count matches the claimed count.

Out of roughly 100 matches on serious dating websites, 5 turned into an actual conversation.

I had a better run on Luvdate if you want a smaller pool, for whatever that is worth.

LoganF is right about this and I would go a step further on serious dating websites.

After a few weeks on that one the only question left was how well it holds up once the novelty fades.

Ran that one alongside two other options for a month, tracking how quickly it starts asking for money.

Deleted and reinstalled serious dating websites twice before accepting the issue was whether it thins out after the first week and not my profile.

Given how what the verification step actually proves behaves, I would only recommend the service to someone with patience.

I would judge serious dating websites on whether the recommendations improve with use rather than on the feature list.

The thing that finally moved the needle on the site was being specific about how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Take that as one data point on serious dating websites rather than a verdict.

I keep the Flurrydate boards open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

Assuming you're not paying, how many profiles logged in this week is where the platform gets tight.

What separates the app from the rest of the field is whether it thins out after the first week.

Has anyone got serious dating websites working properly outside a major city?

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how much of the traffic is automated.

Most of my useful conversations on the app started midweek, which says more about whether the good profiles are already taken than about timing.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the ratio is workable in your area.

I gave serious dating websites about 3 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether the active count matches the claimed count.

That is my read on serious dating websites anyway, others will have had different luck.

Ended up splitting my time between this and Datedesire's free tier.

Agree with Monica Ellis, though serious dating websites was a bit worse in my case.

The first message is where it either works or stops working, regardless of whether the interface gets in the way.

The thing nobody mentions about that one is whether the recommendations improve with use.

I logged into that one at different times of day to get a read on whether people reply or just collect matches.
