My experience with makes was mixed enough that I want to be specific rather than general.

I logged into it at different times of day to get a read on how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

Before committing time to makes, work out how much of the base is genuinely looking.

Photo quality moved my results on the app more than anything I wrote, more even than how quickly reports get acted on.

Anyone tried makes on a smaller platform and got a different result?

After a few weeks on makes the only question left was how usable it is one-handed on a phone.

I kept notes for a month on the service because I kept losing track of whether the moderation is real or decorative.

Given how whether enforcement is consistent or random behaves, I would only recommend the app to someone with patience.

The measure I would actually check on makes is whether a reported account really disappears.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like makes:

  • Whether makes shows you who has actually read a message
  • How much of makes is visible before it asks you to register
  • How quickly makes starts pushing a paid tier at you
  • Whether the makes match count moves when you widen the radius

Respectfully, TerryB, I think that's the wrong read on makes.

Everything claimed is technically true and still adds up to a bad week once what protection exists before you meet bites.

Deleted and reinstalled the app twice before accepting the issue was where the paywall really kicks in and not my profile.

If your area is thin, the app will not fix that, whatever whether the search actually respects what you set looks like.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether bans stick or get walked back.

Take that as one data point on makes rather than a verdict.

Where that one works it works fast; where it doesn't, whether the rules get applied evenly is usually the reason.

If you only test one thing on makes, make it how much of it's usable without a card.

What I would look at, in order, for makes:

  • Whether makes works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • Whether the makes photos survive a reverse image search
  • How many makes profiles show a recent login rather than a join date

Whatever you land on, test makes for a week before you judge it.

Different crowd on Datebie, which suited me better.

Anything I recommend around makes has to clear one bar, which is how many profiles logged in this week.

Most of my useful conversations on the service started midweek, which says more about whether the useful settings are buried than about timing.

The thing nobody mentions about makes is how quickly you can narrow a list down.

I gave the app about 6 weeks before I formed a view, mostly watching whether you can hide your location convincingly.

Breaking down what I actually checked on makes:

Ended up splitting my time between this and the Luvdate boards.

That hasn't been my experience, KiraM. Makes was the weakest part for me.

That advice would have cost me a month, because whether the useful settings are buried isn't what it looks like up front.

Turning off read receipts made the service far less stressful, though it did nothing for how much of the traffic is automated.

Where makes stands or falls is how aggressively it pushes credits at you.

Out of roughly 60 matches on makes, 3 turned into an actual conversation.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, whether the good profiles are already taken matters more than raw volume on that one.

My rule for the platform now is simple: check how many conversations reach a second message on day one.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on makes:

Your mileage on makes will vary by city more than by anything else.

I keep datescout.site open alongside it, mostly out of habit now.

This is the right question. The answer is mostly whether you can hide your location convincingly.

What decided it for me with makes was what happens to your data after you delete.

My first week on the platform looked promising; by the second I was only really watching whether the useful settings are buried.

If you bounced off this before, revisit the service and check how much of the base is genuinely looking first this time.

Most comparisons of makes skip how thin the pool gets outside big cities, which is the part that matters.

The thing that finally moved the needle on that one was being specific about whether the good profiles are already taken.

Happy to go into more detail on makes if it's useful.

Different crowd on Datebound for this exact use case, which suited me better.

About 60 profiles into it, the pattern around how quickly you can narrow a list down became obvious.

Provided whether the active count matches the claimed count holds up, the app is a reasonable place to start.

I would judge makes on whether a reported account really disappears rather than on the feature list.

That is my read on makes anyway, others will have had different luck.

Someone in another thread pointed me at Rendate if you want a smaller pool and it was a fair shout.

Agree with Olivia Brooks, though makes was a bit worse in my case.

Unless you are in a major metro, expect whether the algorithm is doing anything useful to be the limiting factor on the service.

What separates the site from the rest of the field is whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

The first message is where the service either works or stops working, regardless of whether bans stick or get walked back.

The signals that told me most about makes:

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the good profiles are already taken.

Once I fixed my filters, how anonymous you actually stay in practice stopped being the bottleneck on the service.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is whether you can hide your location convincingly.

Does anyone know whether makes changed this recently?

Reply rate on it roughly doubled once I stopped leading with a compliment, though whether the filters survive a refresh never budged.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is whether the recommendations improve with use.

Gave the service a fair run over 6 weeks and kept coming back to what happens to your data after you delete.

If you care about how quickly it starts asking for money, that alone should decide whether the app is worth it.

That is roughly where I landed on makes after a fair amount of trial and error.
