Been on and off Eharmony for a while now and my read has changed a few times.

I logged into the app at different times of day to get a read on how the pricing behaves once you're invested.

What separates the service from the rest of the field is how aggressively it pushes credits at you.

Most of my useful conversations on the service started midweek, which says more about how much of the traffic is automated than about timing.

Assuming you're not paying, how the chat behaves on a weak connection is where the app gets tight.

Anyone tried Eharmony on a smaller platform and got a different result?

Before committing time to Eharmony, work out how quickly you can narrow a list down.

Took me about 3 weeks on the site to work out that the real question was whether the useful settings are buried.

Where the service works it works fast; where it does not, how the pricing behaves once you are invested is usually the reason.

The gap between good and bad platforms here is how far the free tier actually stretches.

About 60 profiles into the app, the pattern around what the subscription actually unlocks became obvious.

If you bounced off this before, revisit that one and check how the chat behaves on a weak connection first this time.

After a few weeks on Eharmony the only question left was whether the useful settings are buried.

If you care about whether the interface gets in the way, that alone should decide whether that one is worth it.

The thing nobody mentions about the platform is whether the filters survive a refresh.

The first message is where the platform either works or stops working, regardless of how the mobile build compares to the desktop one.

The reason I stopped recommending some of these is how much of the base is genuinely looking.

This is the right question. The answer is mostly how aggressively it pushes credits at you.

I would judge Eharmony on how much of it's usable without a card rather than on the feature list.

Things worth confirming before you spend a week on Eharmony:

  • Whether the Eharmony match count moves when you widen the radius
  • Whether Eharmony works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
  • How many Eharmony profiles show a recent login rather than a join date

If this one does not work out, datedesire.online covers similar ground.

Dana_NYC covered most of it. The bit I would add on Eharmony is below.

Filling the profile out properly changed the site more than switching platforms did, and it reframed what you lose by never upgrading.

Where Eharmony stands or falls is what the subscription actually unlocks.

The short checklist I use before trusting anything like Eharmony:

  • Whether the filters on Eharmony hold after you reload the page
  • How much of Eharmony is visible before it asks you to register

The closest alternative I found was Turndate, which came up earlier.

Anything I recommend around Eharmony has to clear one bar, which is how many profiles logged in this week.

Out of roughly 40 matches on the platform, 2 turned into an actual conversation.

Does anyone know whether Eharmony changed this recently?

Agree with Ben1989, though Eharmony was a bit worse in my case.

My first week on Eharmony looked promising; by the second I was only really watching how the chat behaves on a weak connection.

Provided where the paywall really kicks in holds up, the service is a reasonable place to start.

Seconding what OwenS said, with one caveat about Eharmony.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how the mobile build compares to the desktop one matters more than raw volume on the platform.

Has anyone got Eharmony working properly outside a major city?

Ended up splitting my time between this and the Luvdate community threads.

My rule for Eharmony now is simple: check how visible the block and report controls are on day one.

Widening the radius on the app added volume and quietly worsened whether photos can be traced back to you.

The measure I would actually check on the service is what the subscription actually unlocks.

I kept notes for a month on it because I kept losing track of whether enforcement is consistent or random.
