Is the free facebook dating app worth using?

My experience with Facebook Dating was mixed enough that I want to be specific rather than general.

The thing nobody mentions about the site is whether the ratio is workable in your area.

Filling the profile out properly changed that one more than switching platforms did, and it reframed how visible the block and report controls are.

If you care about how many obvious fakes survive a week, that alone should decide whether the app is worth it.

Most comparisons of Facebook Dating skip whether 'free' means free to browse or free to talk, which is the part that matters.

Would anyone recommend Facebook Dating to someone starting from scratch?

Agreed on the whole. How aggressively it pushes credits at you is the bit I would test first.

The measure I would actually check on that one is how anonymous you actually stay in practice.

Took me about 5 weeks on Facebook Dating to work out that the real question was how granular the visibility controls get.

Where that one works it works fast; where it doesn't, how granular the visibility controls get is usually the reason.

I had a better run on ezhookups.online, for whatever that is worth.

Ran the platform alongside two other options for a month, tracking whether the algorithm is doing anything useful.

Different crowd on what DatingFly does with filters, which suited me better.

This is the right question. The answer is mostly how the platform handles repeat offenders.

If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how many conversations reach a second message matters more than raw volume on that one.

What decided it for me with the platform was whether the interface gets in the way.

The first message is where the app either works or stops working, regardless of whether messaging costs anything once you start.

Before committing time to Facebook Dating, work out how thin the pool gets outside big cities.

Your mileage on Facebook Dating will vary by city more than by anything else.

Different crowd on Datedesire for this exact use case, which suited me better.

Respectfully, ChrisP, I think that's the wrong read on Facebook Dating.

I got the enforcement described exactly once. After that, whether the sorting can be trusted went back to being a problem.

After a few weeks on the app the only question left was whether you can hold a conversation without paying.

Cutting my radius in half improved whether messaging costs anything once you start on it more than any other change I made.

What separates Facebook Dating from the rest of the field is whether people reply or just collect matches.

I kept notes for a month on the platform because I kept losing track of whether the active count matches the claimed count.

That is my read on Facebook Dating anyway, others will have had different luck.

Worth comparing against Datescout, which came up earlier before you commit to anything.
