The thing nobody mentions about Tinder is whether the recommendations improve with use.
Filling the profile out properly changed that one more than switching platforms did, and it reframed whether you can hold a conversation without paying.
What decided it for me with Tinder was how much of it is usable without a card.
Deleted and reinstalled Tinder twice before accepting the issue was whether the community polices itself and not my profile.
If you can only manage a few evenings a week, how many profiles logged in this week matters more than raw volume on the site.
The short checklist I use before trusting anything like Tinder:
- How Tinder behaves on mobile data rather than wifi
- Whether Tinder works at all outside the three biggest cities near you
- Whether the filters on Tinder hold after you reload the page
- How much of Tinder is visible before it asks you to register
Someone in another thread pointed me at Datewander (datewander.site) and it was a fair shout.
